I moved to the U.S.A seven years ago and started working in Red Rock as a staff. After a couple of years, I got my teaching license and started working as a teacher. I was the teacher on coral unit for 3 years and at the same time went to school and completed my masters degree in Mental Health Counseling. I have been working as a therapist for the last two years.

I read somewhere that the only shortcut to success is hard work! Our students find the opportunity to put positive attitude, purpose, and peace of mind in their lives by helping each other and working towards their personal excellence on a daily basis. This is not an easy process and requires hard work and dedication, but it is definitely worth every bit of it.

What is the most rewarding aspect of working with youth?:
Process and Make better choices.

I have always enjoyed working with adolescents. Some of my greatest accomplishments have been helping kids succeed.

Sports. Playing basketball, softball, and golf. Coaching basketball and baseball. Also enjoy big game hunting with archery equipment.

Learning to love and respect themselves. I believe they learn to love and respect themselves by being loved and respected. When they experience this they are more willing to work on changing.

About Me:
I have lived in Southern Utah almost all my life. I love different cultures and I have always wanted to live in different cities or countries; however, family commitments keep me grounded in Southern Utah. Red Rock Canyon School has provided me with an environment of people from diverse cultures, geographical regions, and backgrounds. Because of this, I have never felt more at home than right here in Southern Utah.

The PPC model at RRCS teaches the students a variety of skills. Primarily, the powerful influence of positive supportive relationships in their lives and the responsibility to be a positive influence for the wellbeing of self, family, community and others. Learning to accept accountability and responsibility for their choices and recognizing their personal power (empowerment) and influence on self, others, and the world.

What is the most rewarding aspect of working with youth?:
Students actually improve and recover. Witnessing their own pleasure of recognizing their progress and successes. Sometimes this progress is difficult to recognize, but seeds of wisdom and skills are planted, which may lead to blooming successes in the future.

I enjoy reading, cooking, genealogy, and continual learning. I am an adoptive mother of four. I love being a grandmother to four awesome grandsons. I enjoy teaching others and being involved in my church.

The students are exposed to so many great activities and are allowed to try them with out fear of failing. They are allowed to catch up on academics as well as learning how to be proactive and positive. They have the support of the the whole Red Rock community. That positive support allows them to build their self concept that they can then go and conquer the world at home.

What is the most rewarding aspect of working with youth?:
Watching the light turn on and their confidence grow. Seeing them develop gratitude and appreciation for what the parents and others have done. Knowing that they are on their way to be the individual they and the parents always wanted to them be. Seeing their excitement in their success .
