Residential Treatment Center
Benefits Of Residential Treatment Centers For Teens
Red Rock Canyon School takes advantage of the residential treatment approach to therapy for it's students. At Red Rock Canyon School, we combine the facets of Positive Peer Culture, along with highly trained staff and a secure environment.
We recognize several advantages to our residential treatment approach, as apposed to a rehabilitation like or other short term program. For learning to take place, the teen must be separated from their negative environment. Attitudes and behaviors can and will not change if the situation doesn't. We believe that once removed from previous influences from peers, school, and the teen's home, and placed in a therapeutic treatment, the real healing may finally begin.
A residential treatment style approach is especially effective for teens with emotional problems, substance abuse problems, and ADHD. The reason our program is so effective for these types of students is the structured environment our facility offers. This environment helps to nurture healthy new behavior patterns.
Another benefit to residential treatment is group therapy. Students at Red Rock Canyon School spend part of their therapy in the group therapy environment. While students also receive professional individual therapy, there are many benefits to group therapy. As students progress in the program and learn and develop positive behaviors, they begin to set a prime example for their peers. Group therapy allows teens to interact with one another and lend a hand to their peers, whether it be positive reinforcement, or constructive criticism. All group therapies are facilitated by one of our licensed therapists.
Choosing a residential treatment center for your teen is not easy. However, a big part of our therapy is the parent. If after the treatment the family issues present before are still there, then it is very difficult to retain the positive behaviors that were developed during treatment. Every three months, parents are invited to come to the school and join there teen for a parent weekend. This unique opportunity allows both child and parent to interact, and work on building a healthy relationship.
